Seattle Mariners 2011

Well, its Baseball time agin...FINALLY! As an original Seattle Mariners fan anybody could see why I'm a little anxious. I just read this quote from Eric Wedge, the new Seattle Mariners Manager,

"We may take our lumps at times, but we're going to be ready to play," Wedge said at the start of camp. "That's one thing we're going to make clear from the outset. You want to be on this team, you come ready to play every night. No excuses."

At least it's sounds like the team is going to attempt to hustle...Who am I fooling! AAA caliber at best. With a farm full of talent learning it's craft this is NOT the year of any kind of breakthrough. We'll get glimpses of Michael Pineda, Justin Smoak and later (May-June) Dustin Ackley but the bad is going to be around more then the good. It WILL get better just not this year. I'd say 2012-13 you'll see a breakout and they'll pull away from the pack again. Unless they make the same stupid mistakes they have recently (Don Wakamatsu). I must say I'm glad Eric Wedge is here in Seattle. Eric reminds me of the early days of Lou Pinella. If nothing else it will be interesting.
